"Got a pair of seatbelts replaced. Initially told it would be around $280 per side. Got a call later quoting me $760 or $380 per side. But ok, I agreed to it; they had to be done, even though I felt it was a bit much, but the seatbelts have been properly fitted and installed as they should be. However, got stung with a $35 diagnostic check on the wiper fluid hose -- when dropping off the car, I had asked them to give a quick blast of compressed air through the hose, a job that takes less than two minutes; not a diagnostic as I already knew what the problem was. I suppose I had assumed that given such a quick thing to do, they would include it in the original quote as a gesture of good will. Turns out they didn't even do what I had specifically asked for but merely moved the fluid hose (which was badly crimped) around, and still had the audacity to charge me 15 minutes for it. If they had at least replaced the hose, it would have been of some value. But to charge me $35 on top of $760 to just move the hose... completely ridiculous. The manager then had the temerity to suggest I may not be mechanically minded when I raised it as a point of contention. Looking at the other reviews complaining of overcharging and poor service, I can believe there's some truth there. Maybe not always, but certainly happened in my case. Be very clear on what you want and what you're willing to pay for with these guys. Left a sour taste in my mouth. If it wasn't for that bit of greediness, I would have given them 4 stars. Won't be using them again any time soon, nor will I recommend them without a major caveat. ADDIT: On 22/3/23, got the bog standard response to this review – a review posted over two weeks ago – claiming they hold their service to a high standard and to give them a call to discuss my concerns with them. I literally told them I wasn't happy with the bogus extra charge at the time of paying and additionally sent them an email the next day to which they never replied. If they had, perhaps I wouldn't have had to leave a negative review. You might think why am I making a fuss over $35? It's the principle of the matter, not whether I can afford it or not. NB: Ended up replacing the tube myself for $4. Which they couldn't be bothered to do for $35."

"Super frustrated. Chose them specifically because they could carry out the rego check on my car. Booked in advance for a service and rego check,. dropped off, left the car all day. When I came to collect I was told ‘sorry we didn’t do the rego check’. It is literally the reason I booked it in and left it all day. Worst part was I was only told this at the end of the day? Terrible experience, and waste of my time. Whilst I was looking for a permanent mechanic for my family of cars, I will not be coming back."

"We recently engaged the team at City Automotive to install a towbar on our Japanese import Estima. They were the first business to not reject us outright at the first mention on an import! I sourced the towbar from a company in Sydney but they were willing to do the install for me. The quote was for 3 hours but they ended up needing much longer due to the install being more complex than anticipated. Not only did they still honour the original quote but they did an amazing job with the installation! These guys are true professionals - excellent at their work and willing to help! I'll be going back the next time I need any work done."

"Overfilled engine oil to twice full level, left breather hose off diff, didn’t properly secure remote res oil lines, left inner guard liners off car and blatantly lied said it never came into workshop with them. I showed them photos of the parts on the vehicle prior to them working on it. I have driven to Perth and am still waiting on them weeks later. I Wouldn’t trust these guys with my lawn mower."
