Flock to the Carrington

"We weren't going to have lunch at The Flock, but i am glad we did. My only 'complaint' is the coffee. It was nice but we had to remove the froth to find the coffee."

"We thought it was a classy venue so booked ahead and anticipated a pleasant dining experience. We were ushered off into a side room with a pusillanimous fire and a draught that felt like it was straight from the Arctic, they refused to close the doors. The staff were goofly playful and we thought that it was an act, but no, they were not pretending. Dinner took ages to come, and they seemed to think a half an hour wait for dessert was normal. We were delighted by the Fawlty Towers style entertainment complete with faux-service and awkward characters. The huge bill was not so bad as we felt we got our value for money by laughing at a great dinner and (unintentional) show. The arancini was delicious."

"My partner & I stopped in for dinner on our way home from a long day traveling interstate. We were welcomed by a very friendly staff member who found us a table right next to the fire which was perfect. We had a garlic bread and pork belly bao buns for an entree. It was the best entree I’ve had in years. If I’d known how delicious they were I would’ve ordered more and not worried about our main. My partner had the lamb shanks for his main and I had the three cheese and spinach cannelloni. OMG soooo good We didn’t leave a scrap even though we were absolutely full to the brim. We continued our journey home very happy. We will definitely be back now we have found this “hidden gem”."

"Disappointing. When booking requested to be near the fire and mentioned it was a birthday dinner. Arrived at 7pm, no comment about the special occasion, the fire went out at 7:30pm and dinner hadn’t arrived by 8:15pm. When questioned it was revealed that the order had been ‘lost’. No offer to compensate for the mistake and no offer of dessert once we finished the main as they were too busy packing away at 9:15pm. On a previous visit we arrived at 8pm, were immediately told we needed to order as the kitchen was closing, and subsequently received dessert before our main meal. Staff don’t appear interested in customer service. As a local, in future I will try the other places in town or go into Canberra for a dinner out ☹️"

"Had an excellent lunch here at Flock, excellent food, excellent service, and large servings. One of the best Sticky Date Puddings I have had, and a decent sized serving of it, overall fantastic. Open fires made the experience very cosy."
