"TO AVOID, THIEVES AND SCAMMERS. Do not go to their workshop, their technicians are incompetent and they will charge you without fixing the issue. Went there twice in one week, being charged $1000 first, then charged $1500 for fixing the same problem. Ended up with exact same problem the next day. Went to another mechanic who fixed the issue in one day. I’ve definitely been scammed and will never go back there again. In fact, I have cancelled my car insurance with RAC completely. TO AVOID, THIEVES AND SCAMMERS!!!!!!!"

"If you are in a breakdown situation do not have your car towed to the RAC Workshop in North-bridge. My car overheated om my way to work one Monday morning and I had my car towed to the RAC North-bridge. I’m an RAC member and wrongfully assumed an RAC workshop would provide better and more professional service to that of others. I unfortunately only read the reviews about this workshop after I started experiencing issues with them. In short, I was informed the reason for my car overheating was due to a leak in the coolant system that was due to some clamps that was not tightened correctly, RAC North-bridge then proceeded to do a Major Service on my Prado for which they quoted me +- $1550, they called me the following day and advise me my front brake pads and rotors also needs replacement, at a cost of $800, for which I gave the go ahead. After about an hour, they called me back again and advised me there was a leak in the coolant system behind the timing chain cover, and that they would have to remove the engine at a cost of $2200 before they could diagnose what the problem was. I pointed out that if they had done a pressure test after tightening the so-called loosed clamps this issue should have been picked up. The Manager, Jeff, denied this despite me having verified this with 2 separate experienced Toyota Mechanics, the said mechanics also indicated that the engine did not need to be removed. I told RAC to stop the service and to close up my car. I went to pick up my car and still got a bill for $870 for the dodgy service that had been done. I drove to a different reputable workshop nearby, who had a look at the engine and informed me that there was indeed a leak behind the timing chain cover, the staff at the said workshop also confirmed if a pressure test had been done upon initial inspection a competent workshop would have picked this us. In the end, without taking out the engine, I ended up having the gasket (seal) on the timing chain cover replaced, the water pump, the leaking radiator, the thermostat, and all related seals. Once the previous mentioned works was completed, the workshop did a vacuum test to confirm the leak had been successfully addressed and they are completing the work on my engine by replacing the front and rear diff oils, topping up the antifreeze and replacing the front brake pads and disks. In Summary, if I left my car at RAC North-bridge, I’m sure I would have been stuck with a bill of more than $6000 and would not have seen my car for weeks. All of the above repairs cost me +- $3400 and took less than a week. So, if you want to avoid getting ripped off, avoid RAC North-bridge"
