"Greedy profit mongering insurers who has stepped premium on TDP and life insurance. Premium age 50 $6000 a year. Premium age 51 13% increase $. 6780 Premium age 65 $18,000 same cover. How are these premiums affordable or reasonable for a PAYG tax earner. What their business goal strategy? to ensure policy holders reduce their cover as they get older or worse cancel the policy to ensure AIA never pay out or pay out a tiny proportion of the money of the premiums they collected when a person was 30-40. Don’t insure with this insurer."
"Will AIA ever accept that I am unlikely to ever work again after my complex medical history and ongoing health issues after terminal heart failure. Sorry in advance for the rant. Terminal illness benefit: my wife couldn’t claim as I didn’t have an enduring power of attorney and AIA failed to advise of the Administrative Tribunal’s role in getting a legal order for her to act on my behalf as I lay dying in my coma world. Even if a claim could be made, I was terminally ill for about 2 or so weeks. Would an AIA Dr be arranged and be able to assess me in ICU in those 2 weeks? How many stroke events did I have? My Drs can’t answer with a number. Obviously more than the 4 I knew about. Was I in kidney failure again in January 2021? Depends on the definition. I have a “very small reserve” of kidney function. Seems like any illness will land me in hospital with kidney issues. Will skin cancer come back? No one can say. Have there been any teachers successfully return to work after VAD artificial heart, multiple strokes, cardiogenic shock, further kidney issues, skin cancer and ongoing immunosuppressant regime? I haven’t found any in Australia. There was one in a different city c2012) with VAD to transplant. He has now retired after returning for a year or so. A fellow in another city had VAD and is now described as “retired Deputy Principal” in a media article. These are published in newspapers. I know overseas teachers in heart groups who tried to return to work after VAD and transplant. Haven’t heard of anyone back full time. Is the stress of dealing with AIA and trying to arrange return to work likely to help me in honouring my donor and their family by living a healthy life? That’s a big issue for me, and I feel guilty, anxious and depressed (as assessed by neuropsychologist and clinical psychologist as well as GP and heart transplant team Drs). Will the stress of this one ing situation further shorten my life? I’m at the level now where I just want to know that I will continue to receive the payments to support my family, try lower risk meaningful activities and enjoy the years I have left by seeing my kids into adulthood. Is that too much to ask? AIA staff have stated that I need “reassurance”, and that the product they offer is “peace of mind for your family. It couldn’t possibly be legal for a life insurer to refuse to start a claim without the claim form being filled in by the claimant. I couldn’t read or write owing to my medical condition (ie the sole reason for needing to make a claim). Section 7 of the life Insurance code of Practice covers clients experiencing disability. As well Australia has anti discrimination legislation and the commonwealth disability discrimination act. I would have thought that by refusing to accept a claim in a format I could access, the insurer is in breach of both legislation and their code of conduct."
"I had my income insurance through my super with AIA. Rest chose this company as their insurer. Have been with Rest since 1990. AIA took my payment of my $2,000 and my voluntary contribution to cover for an extra $4,700 per month. So my cover should have been $6,700 per month. After 8 months of battle AIA chose to offer me $622 per month as I was on center link at for the previous 12 months due to my illness. I have escalated complaint only to be told by Andrew one of their supervisors that I need to accept the claim and there is nothing I can do about it. As of today. 13 March 2020 I have not had 1 payment. So nearly one year later and AIA still hide under a big rock. No communication. Can't discuss my case with them. Escalated through them, Rest and now upwards. Very disgusting robbery. Now 7th of January. Still waiting. Now AIA are asking for information that is no longer available due to their inaction. So they are now claiming due to their delay since knowing 100% in April 2020 that they needed extra information that I was not aware of, that my claim is not payable until I magically make this information appear. Also their "senior customer resolution specialist" (name withheld) called my doctor without my consent relating information not related to my claim. Attempting to glean information from my doctor who told her to "go away" unless she had my permission for her to ask these questions. So invasion of privacy which I am promised the voice recording of which none have been received. So after 19 months of delays I have not progressed. I was told that they would get information until they found their loophole by Kristie my case manager. I will update this absolute rip off for everyone to keep up with. Today is the final day I wait for my claim to be recognised and finalised. At the moment I have none of the above except lies and deceit."
"Sunsuper chose this company to underwrite their insurance. In my entire life, I’ve never experienced such abysmal customer service than from AIA Insurance. Sunsuper appear to not be interested in this, they just palm you back off to AIA, who don’t bother to return calls or emails. I have reported them once already to the ombudsman, where they were reprimanded, however this has made zero difference to their service. Reporting them again to the ombudsman. I’ve paid my premiums, yet they appear extremely reluctant to pay the benefits when required. I have provided over and over again paperwork required. I continue to be told they haven’t received payslips from me, even though I receive delivery reports on my emails. I’m at my wits end with these people."
"Incompetent, constantly making excuses for their poor performance. Have been lied to by senior staff. Have little or lame follow up processes. Extremely poor documentation of calls and important information. One central email address which important documents get lost in because it is unmanaged. They have this 20 day follow up processes which more often than not your case will lay dormant in that time followed by we are waiting on documents excuse. I get better service from centerlink than these jokes"
