Reviews
"Pretty dodgy to try and get clout with a vegan and gf menu, with almost every item listed as either gluten free or gfo available. Yet nothing is actually gluten free because of the shared friers and cooking surfaces. There is no disclaimer on the menu either. Don't trust the food if you've got a gluten allergy, this is clearly only for the look it gives the venue."
"Oh, man, let me tell ya, Saturday at the Bearded Lady in West End was an absolute groove-fest that I won't soon forget! The moment Jimi Beavis and his blues and roots band took the stage, it was like a time warp back to the golden age of raw, blues and roots music. The atmosphere in the bar was electric, with that unmistakable Beatnic vibe lingering in the air. The dimly lit room, and the laid-back crowd set the perfect stage for the musical magic about to unfold. As soon as Jimi Beavis pulled out one of the many blues harps from his top pocket, I knew we were in for a treat. Their rendition of Howlin' Wolf's classic blues hit was like pouring hot honey into my ears. It had that gritty, soulful essence that makes blues so enchanting. You could feel the emotion pouring out of every note, and the band transported us to the the Cross Roads of the Mississippi Delta, right where the blues were born. Jimi Beavis' voice was pure dynamite, channeling the spirit of the old blues masters with a modern twist. The way he howled and wailed just like Howlin' Wolf himself sent shivers down my spine. It was like witnessing a true blues revival, and I couldn't help but stomp my feet and clap along in rhythm. The band's chemistry was undeniable; they were tight-knit and played off each other with seamless finesse. The drummer laid down a steady, primal beat that had everyone swaying, while the bass player brought that low-end rumble that made my heart thump in sync with the music. The highlight, of course, was when they launched into their Howlin' Wolf tribute. The guitar solos were out of this world, transporting us to some smoky Chicago blues club in the '50s. Each member of the band had their moment to shine, and they did so with such passion and authenticity that it was hard not to get lost in the music. But it wasn't just the covers that made the night special. Jimi Beavis and his band had some original material too, and let me tell you, their original songs were just as soul-stirring as the classics. They managed to capture the essence of blues and roots while infusing it with their own unique flair. The Bearded Lady turned into a sanctuary of rhythm and blues that night, and I can't thank Jimi Beavis and his band enough for the experience they delivered. They reminded us all why blues and roots music will forever hold a special place in our hearts. So, if you ever get a chance to catch Jimi Beavis and the crew live, don't hesitate—take that journey back in time and let the bluesy magic wash over you. It's an experience every Beatnic should embrace!"
"Went down to listen to the great live music, and the new kitchen menu is outstanding. Easily top 5 plant based feeds I’ve had out, will be back for more."
"I can't rate any of the above. I was there to watch an old friend play his guitar and tell stories. It was going off this Friday night. Happy crowd of considerate humans."
"Beautiful atmosphere, great wide range of gigs and sets from different artists. Kind staff, even though it's busy and loud they don't rush you or act inconvenienced. Nice location, near a lot of other great bars/pubs. Great energy in general. A few more different kinds of drinks on the menu would be my personal critique, as in just some more to flip through in the book to get a better understanding of what you want. Definitely coming back!"
