Chef Morita's journey began in the picturesque Kochi Prefecture, nestled in the small island of Shikoku, Japan. After honing his skills at a culinary school in Tokyo, he embarked on a remarkable career that led him to Amsterdam and London, where he showcased his talents on an international stage. Returning to Tokyo, Chef Morita further solidified his knowledge before venturing to Sydney in 1994.
In Sydney, Chef Morita worked at Suntory's Japanese Restaurant, where he quickly rose to the position of head chef. His dedication and passion for Japanese cuisine led him to explore various Japanese restaurants across Sydney, impressing diners with his skillful creations. In 2012, his lifelong dream came true with the opening of Kisuke Japanese Restaurant in Willoughby, where he delighted countless customers and established a thriving business.
In 2020, Chef Morita and his family decided to embark on a new chapter by opening Kisuke in the heart of Potts Point. This new restaurant serves as a platform for Chef Morita to showcase his decades of experience, love, and passion for Japanese cuisine. When you dine with us, you become part of Chef Morita's culinary journey, experiencing the flavors and techniques that have shaped his remarkable career.
To ensure the best dining experience for our guests, we kindly request that bookings be made for groups of 2, 4, or 6. Please note that our limited number of reservations is released monthly on our website. Bookings for the following month become available on the first day of each month at 1pm. We encourage you to secure your reservation promptly to avoid disappointment.

"One of the best omasake experiences in Sydney. Set in a small intimate setting. The food was amazing. Chef Morita prepares the food in front of you, explaining what each of them is. The waitress is warm and helpful with the drinks. The food!!! What can I say, it’s fresh and delicious as he chooses the ingredients that are freshest and available on the day. The highlight for me was the sushi- the tuna belly and medium tuna was melt in your mouth. Very thankful to be able to secure a booking which needs to be done 1 month in advance. Thank you for a beautiful experience"
"A very intimate dining experience with the chef, his wife and 6 diners in total. The food was all very good and tasty. Highlight was a great selection of sashimi with the chef making fresh sushi, including ootoro - fatty tuna. Each dish came as a nice surprise and delight. Balance of flavours were spot on. It is hard to get a booking in with constant midnight checks online for a month in advance, but very worthwhile."
