About the Business

Welcome to Akira Sushi, located at 260A Liverpool Road in Ashfield, Australia. As an establishment that falls under the categories of food, point of interest, and restaurant, we are proud to offer you an authentic and delightful sushi experience.
Before diving into the culinary journey we have prepared for you, it is essential to have a fundamental understanding of what sushi truly is. Originating in Japan, sushi is a highly creative and skillful cuisine that combines raw and cooked fish, vegetables, and rice seasoned with vinegar. It has evolved over time and now includes a variety of ingredients and preparation methods.
At Akira Sushi, we offer both traditional Japanese sushi and sushi prepared in the Western way, allowing you to discover your personal preference. Our menu typically consists of six different types of sushi, each with its own unique characteristics.
Sashimi, one of the most popular dishes ordered at sushi restaurants, showcases raw fish cut into long, rectangular slices called hira-zukuri. It is often accompanied by wasabi, soy sauce, and pickled ginger, providing a burst of flavors. Nigiri, on the other hand, features seasoned rice topped with thin slices of raw fish, offering a simple yet delightful combination.
Chirashi, meaning "scattered," presents a dish of vinegar-seasoned rice topped with raw fish pieces and various toppings, selected by our skilled chef to surprise your taste buds. Maki, rolled and sliced into bite-sized pieces, combines fillings wrapped in vinegar-seasoned rice and nori. Uramaki follows a similar concept, but with the rice placed on the outside of the nori, offering a unique twist.
Lastly, we have Temaki, where the nori is rolled into a cone, and rice, vegetables, and fish are stuffed inside. These hand rolls are enjoyed using your hands, as they are too big for chopsticks.
At Akira Sushi, we strive to provide you with an unforgettable sushi experience, combining the best of traditional and contemporary methods. So come and join us at our restaurant in Ashfield, Australia, and let your taste buds embark on an extraordinary journey through the flavors of sushi.
Reviews
"The sushi rolls are way smaller than any other sushi roll I’ve had in Australia, while costing more. There is better sushi elsewhere in the mall. Sorry, but I won’t be back."
"This place is excellent. The bad reviews are from many years ago. The staff here are super lovely and their grilled salmon boxes are delicious. They make their own honey mustard sauce which is so tasty (I want the recipe!). Along with the raw red onion garnish it makes a really nice twist. $11.50 is good value for the dragon box which had a lot of food in it."
"The chicken bento tastes a bit sweet, which I don’t like. But it’s just personal preference. Generally it’s not bad and given the price$10.50, couldn’t really complain . Average experience in general"
"Sushi Box was old. Clearly had been put in the fridge overnight and placed back on display. Was the worst sushi I've ever had, and I eat a lot of cheap sushi.. Kaneda would not be pleased. I've had the rolls from here before and they were fine though. Brown rice option is great."
"Better than your average food court food place by its price and what you get is what makes it better than average. There bento boxes are like a mix of whatever they decided to put in it. Mine has edamame in it and one piece of sushi and a spring roll. It's like a lucky dip because my fish on top which was big in size was covering all this. I enjoyed it more than I think I should of,maybe because I was hungry! Still I find this place good value and you better check if you get takeaway for cutlery, lucky I checked otherwise eating with my hands would of been a problem"
