"We just spent a fantastic weekends at Paddy Macs for a family reunion across 3 generations. The accommodation was bright and clean with rooms geared for both kids and adults alike. 2 rooms have single beds only which was ideal for cousins to bunk in together and all the doubles have en-suite bathrooms. What really elevates Paddy Macs above other similar accommodation is the private bar on the premises. The pub has been beautifully restored with a lot of the original fixtures and it was a fantastic environment for the adults to relax in the evening with a few drinks in front of an open fire. Because the bar comes complete with table football , a karaoke machine, TV and other games , it turned out to be a great hang-out area for the kids during the day also with a real novelty factor for them. The is also a sitting room with TV on the first floor where the kids were able to set up gaming consoles There are loads of activities for the kids around Drumshanbo. We booked in for kayaking with the kids at the nearby Lough Allen adventure centre. We were all kayaking novices but we got to navigate from Lough Allen to Acres Lake through the canal and back again on an instructor-led tour. We also got to go for a stroll along the Acres lake floating boardwalk although unfortunately we missed out on the outdoor heated swimming pool by a couple of weeks. Hopefully next time where we can maybe tie it in with the Blueway Waterpark and the zipline at Lough Key. Centra directly across the road was very convenient for coffees / breakfast etc. and we had a lovely lunch at the Gin Distillery. Can’t wait for our next visit"
