"Amazing experience at Chequers, lovely service by Stephen. With prosecco bottle on arrival. Sophia and I shared the wings as starter and have a steak each. Even Freddie, Ivan and Kristian from the kitchen pop out and have a chat with us. Kristian even served us our desserts (Brownie and lemon meringue pie). Fantastic night, great company and great food ."

"Seated quickly by very pleasant staff. Drinks arrived then the order was placed. No rush just the right timings. We chose the fish & chips which when it arrived was super. The batter not too thick & the fish was lovely & moist. All in all a lovely lunch."

"Shocking service clearly could see it was busy but had to wait 30 mins for glass of water for the family. The floor manager in restaurant look like he couldn’t be bothered ignoring tables. When we ordered drinks we asked if they did a specific cocktail and his response was ‘I suppose so’…it was a whiskey sour which was on the menu. The drinks did not even turn up in the end at all. Real shame as local to Marlow and have been coming here many times but was shocking service this evening for Sunday lunch. Food was good but shame service letting chef down."

"I booked Chequers to celebrate my birthday with my family. I mentioned the occasion when making my booking but it made no difference to our experience. The service was unfortunately very slow when we visited (I think due to a shortage of staff). We were sat at our table for over 20 mins before anyone approached us to take a drinks order, which then took a very long time to arrive. Only once we had been looking at the menus for 40 mins did the staff tell us that 4 of the dishes we wanted were unavailable. This information should be shared immediately to avoid disappointment. We considered leaving and going to another restaurant, but stayed. The actual food was good once it arrived. When it came to paying the bill, no one came back to take payment so we had to give up and actually go over to the bar to pay. Unfortunately a disappointing experience, especially for a special occasion. Can’t recommend unfortunately."

"Decided to go here last Sunday, very late afternoon for a meal as we were travelling extremely early the next day and had no inspiration to cook. Lovely warm atmosphere throughout. Plenty of people in the bar looking very comfortable. It was pleasantly busy for a Sunday evening. Always a good sign. We got lucky considering how late in the day we were and were gratefully able to still get roasts. Two pork and one beef. Plenty of veg and the trimmings including a generous serving of gravy. My Brakspear pint was spot on as was my sons lager. The bottle of Shiraz for his partner and the table was also spot on. Service was friendly and relaxed and we were made to feel very welcome by all. The chef knows what he is doing in this place and I’d urge anyone reading to try for yourself. It’s clearly a well operated pub by the manager as staff seem happy, customers seem comfortable and at home. Great to see the great British traditional town pub is still alive & well, if this place is anything to go by."
