"We visited here on Bank Holiday Sunday whilst staying locally. We expected it to feel busy due to the craft fair, classic car show and the nice weather but it didn't feel that way. Admission includes access to gardens, house (now fully open) and zoo. There is something for all the family with the house being an interesting walk around - something to see in every room and a little hunt trail for younger visitors to do. The grounds are beautiful and have a children's play area with plenty of places to sit and take in the scenery and serenity. The classic car show was an added bonus to visit. There are plenty of toilets to use and although the cafe always had a queue the small shop and ice cream kiosk were both open with friendly staff and reasonable prices. The zoo was a great little walk around, lots of birds, penguins (fed at 3pm with a talk lasting 20 minutes too) and hooved animals. They do have a walk through Avery but it didn't appear to be open."
"This is such a brilliant place to visit. It is lovely to have such brilliant staff in the house, dressed in historic costume, bringing history to life. The gardens are beautiful. The animal park is lots of fun. The cafe has good tea and coffee, plus simple food. We always come for a visit when we are in the area."
"We Loved our visit to Sewerby Hall & gardens. The little zoo was small but interesting & nice to see spotlessly clean paddocks & well looked after animals( not like another animal park we visited in the area) The house was very interesting, staff were very friendly & informative. We loved the gardens, staff were working very hard doing summer bedding. We took a picnic so could not comment on the cafe. We will definitely visit again when in the area."
"We made a special trip to see the Wildlife Photographer Of the Year exhibition which was great. The house is interesting, the zoo was nice, especially the mice that had invaded the parakeet cage. The grounds are lovely. Great value for money at £8.50 online"
"Georgian Hall with Beautiful Gardens The snowdrops looked amazing as you entered Sewerby Hall. The Hall is fascinating especially the kitchen and servant quarters. The Monkey Puzzle trees in the grounds are some of the tallest in Europe and are an impressive sight. The topiary in the walled garden is spectacular, and the rose garden was full of crocuses and flowering witch Hazel when we visited. The Zoo was a little depressing as there seemed to be a lot of birds in very low cramped aviaries. Although the Zoo is involved in the conservation of rare pheasants."
