Reviews
"There was a large smear on the side of the bed, which I can only assume was human feces. When I checked out the receptionist asked how my stay was, which I relied less than expected, and she said, "lovely, have a great day!" Could definitely use some better trained staff, and major updates to the rooms. Starting with new mattresses, immediately."
"When all the rooms are modernized this hotel will be superb. Public areas are very comfortable clean and modern. The restaurant is first class and the quality of the food and service is excellent. It is a buffet style breakfast but it is hot and appetizing and being continually recharged. The pool and the hot tub, steam room and sauna are all good. All in all would have given a five star review if only the room we had was better. However a modernization programme is under way and is being addressed. Would we come back? Absolutely"
"My husband and I visited Scotland for 9 days. Our last stop was Airth Castle.... leaving what we thought would be the "best for last". We were profoundly disappointed with our Castle room. Not remotely close to what is pictured on the website. The room was overall dusty, the bed was lumpy, pillows like pancakes and the bathroom had a single ceiling light fixture sticking out of the wall next to the mirror. It felt more like staying at a Motel 6 than a historic castle. When visiting a place such as the historic Airth Castle, you would imagine they would take great pains in preserving the historic features. Fill it with period appropriate furniture and decorative items. Making it feel like you are stepping back in time with William Wallace knocking at the door. Granted, it appeared to be in the beginning stages of a restoration. I'm not sure what the finished product will look like, but starting off with obnoxious tartan wall to wall carpet that detracts from all of the delicate details doesn't seem like a good start. There are many well restored castles out there where you can stay. I would suggest staying at one of those other castles instead of Airth Castle."
"The staff were overall friendly however it was clear that it was a young team that lacked experience in the service industry. The room I had was 131 and had wasps (dead and not dead) in it. I asked at the reception area for a hoover and even offered to do it myself. Sadly I had to go back over half an hour later and ask again. The bathroom was relatively clean and the shower pressure was really good. However the rest of the room was dusty not clean and the end sheet on the bed was disgusting. If the owners are reading this.... just because you've got a castle and a fancy pyramid dining room doesn't mean you can neglect the rest of the hotel. I've been to much better places for less money."
