The Cavell Hospital

"While Doctor Shah was lovely to work with and very empathetic. Everything after that appointment has been a nightmare. I was due to have an operation at the beginning of the year and when I checked in the day before I was told there was nothing organised and that I was supposed to call to and book the appointment myself. This was the first I’d heard of this, because I actually synced calendars with the doctors during the appointment (in the room!!) and we agreed when the surgery would be. It’s now almost 2 weeks later, I haven’t had my surgery, I’ve spoken to about five different members of staff who have all said they would help me get this appointment sorted, and yet I haven’t heard anything back from any of them. I’m now chasing again for the fourth time and I’m absolutely shocked at how this has been handled. I have no idea how they were voted the best private hospital in London because what is this? If this is how communication is handled, why would I want to have surgery with them? Such a shame, because my consultation was actually brilliant. Edit: As I was writing this review, I got a notification about a consultation with a completely different doctor to the one I’m working with - alongside consultation prices and a surgery date that wasn’t discussed with me. I contacted the number on the document and was told that the note I was sent was wrong and that someone on their side immediately cancelled it. Edit 3 days later: No one has contacted me, I even left a voicemail with the secretary. I have never been this stressed about my health in my life."

"Came in for gastroscopy. Looked after from start through to check out. My nurse, Marie, was lovely, friendly and reassuring, also Khalid her colleague. Put me at ease. Dr Mann has a very nice bedside manner. He took me through the procedure preop and was reassuring throughout. My room was clean and pleasant. I was given results in an informative report on the day. Whole visit and procedure took a couple of hours only."
