"Although the hotel itself was reasonably nice, friendly staff, room decor quite quirky etc. I cannot overlook the biggest issue that affected our stay...no heating! We stayed in the King's block and the whole building and rooms were absolutely freezing. Although the hotel eventually gave us an oil radiator it simply was not sufficient to heat the room to a comfortable temperature. The towel radiator didn't come on so straight from a hot shower to shivering in a towel. I have often stayed in hotel rooms that were too hot but never had an experience like this one before!"
"Delightful hotel. King suite was great, lovely big bath and shower and superking bed. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Room service meals were well cooked and presented and at a reasonable price. Excellent range to cater for all tastes at breakfast - including great coffee and fresh pancakes to start the day! Will happily return if visiting Chester again and will definitely look at other Best Western hotels in future."
"Beautiful hotel, breakfast was great, the staff all genuinely wanted us to have a great stay. Superior room was spacious, the entrance was like a price of living history. I felt it was expensive for a couple of nights bed and breakfast, especially given the breakfast was self service. There was no phone in the room for reception or room service. I felt the process had been streamlined with some little touches sacrificed for efficiency. Definitely best hotel we have stayed in this year and would go during summer if we can get a deal"
"Stayed here for 3 nights and it was wonderful. All staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was beautiful and dog friendly and lovely breakfast. Opposite train station which is also a plus. In the progress of booking again in Jan. Thank you all so much for the warm welcome see you again soon"
"The entrance to this building is beautiful, but past that its bit run down. Our room was very dusty, hadnt been hoovered, the bathroom needed a really good clean and some of the fixtures were poorly fitted. We were asked if we wanted our room serviced and said yes but nobody came, so we asked for clean towels and were told they would be brought yo our room, an hour later we were still waiting and had to ring reception. Had breakfast one day there and the waiting staff were lovely. Sadly basic cleaning is letting this place down. We paid for an upgrade but it wasn't really worth it such a shame as on the website it looks amazing."
