About the Business

Welcome to Dans le Noir? London Restaurant, a truly unique dining experience that takes place in complete darkness. Our aim is to challenge your senses and allow you to discover new tastes and textures without the use of sight.

Located at 69-73 St John St, London EC1M 4NJ, our establishment is a one-of-a-kind destination that attracts foodies, adventurers and curious diners alike. Our concept is simple: you choose a surprise menu (meat, fish or vegetarian) and our visually impaired guides take you on a culinary journey, serving you dishes and drinks that you won't be able to identify until the end of the meal.

At our restaurant, darkness provides a level playing field where guests are able to focus exclusively on the taste, smell, texture and sound of each dish. This results in a sensory experience that can be both exhilarating and revealing. Our guests are encouraged to interact with each other and share their thoughts and impressions throughout the meal, making it a social and communal event.

Our menu changes regularly, showcasing seasonal and fresh ingredients sourced from local suppliers. We offer wine and cocktail pairings to complement each dish and enhance the overall experience. Our team of chefs and sommeliers are dedicated to providing a memorable and exceptional dining experience every time.

In addition to our restaurant, we also offer private events for corporate, social or educational purposes. These events can be tailored to suit your needs and objectives, and can include team-building activities, blind tastings or sensory workshops.

Dans le Noir? London Restaurant is not just a place to eat, but a destination that will challenge your preconceptions and broaden your horizons. Come and join us for a meal that you will never forget.

"For me it’s a must do experience; NOT for picky eaters though and close minded people! I come from a small island and everyone I said I was going to a restaurant to eat in the dark they told me “why would you do that?”, so again, you have to be open minded because at first thought it does sound “silly”. But I loved it! It was the coolest thing ever, of course another person’s disability is not cool, but the whole concept was incredible and so out of our comfort zone. It truly is pitch black, you can’t see a thing, and we relied heavily on feeling & hearing to catch the food in our plate. Our waitor Fabio was super nice and made us feel comfortable. The food wasn’t as incredible as it looks on their site, the dessert was a super basic apple crumble, I think they could have done something more interesting, it was really underwhelming. Also, in the dietary requirements I requested no duck, as my boyfriend isn’t the biggest fan, and guess what the main was…. Imagine if someone was allergic to it? (There are people who can only have certain foods). He didn’t cause a scene and ate it, but it would have been disappointing to pay 60£ for a meal you did not request (I understand it’s a surprise but still). All in all, I would go again for the experience for sure, even if the food was not mind blowing."

"Amazing food! The whole experience from start to finish is great. Waitors were always so friendly and kind. The food can’t get better and the prices are fair for the portion size. Always a great spot to get great food. Thank you to Kay, Michael and Fabio."

"It was a unique and incredible experience. Inside the restaurant, you will be asked to hand in your phone and any smart gadget that may give out light and these will be kept safely in a locker for you. The food was great, you will be given 3 option: Red menu for meat, Blue for seafood and Green for veg. At the end of your experience, they will reveal what you have eaten and you will find out if your guesses were correct! It is definitely worth a visit! The staff were amazing and will talk you through it. It's not often that one get to dine in pitch black... definitely an experience to awaken your senses!"

"I visited in Jan as a treat because my friend was moving out of London and wanted to try this. This review is well overdue. I don't want to say too much that might ruin the experience but we had a fantastic time. Loseing your sense of sight for the meal allows all your other senses to come alive. I'm usually a slow eater and my partner is the fast eater but in the dark our behaviour totally changed, I became the quick eater!. You get a choice of veg, meat or fish menu and you have no idea what will turn up on the plate, so try to order from the same menu so that you guys can try to guess what you're all eating!. The food tasted delicious, the wine pairings and cocktail were excellent too. Our host Ghow was fantastic! As was the lady downstairs who gave us a lovely momento book and a complimentary cocktail downstairs. I can't rave about this place enough, a worthwhile business employing differently abled people, excellent food and excellent service. These types of places make dinning out a pleasure and memorable experience!"

"This experience as a family outing was amazing. The staff were really friendly including micheal, our guide, and alya, our waitress who were both blind and outstanding with their service. No phones or belongings were allowed in the dark room so no photos were taken, but we were shown our meals after the experience. I had the 3 course meal from the blue menu which was delicious, although it may seem abit overpriced (luckily they accept student discounts). I would recommend this to any family, it was quite scary at first but the inability to see our meal enhanced our other senses together which was an overall pleasant experience."
