Gehl-Mulva Science Center, St. Norbert College
Located on First Street in De Pere, Wisconsin, the Gehl-Mulva Science Center at St. Norbert College is a cutting-edge facility for students majoring in natural sciences. This state-of-the-art center houses programs in computer science, physics, math, psychology, geology, biology, and chemistry, as well as pre-med, pre-dental, pre-engineering, pre-veterinary, and pre-pharmacy programs. With 45 teaching/research labs, including a rare anatomy lab, psychology computer labs, and an animal learning lab, students have ample opportunities for hands-on learning and collaboration. The center also features a large lecture hall, science gallery, faculty offices, group lounges, and study rooms. The GMS atrium showcases beautiful triptych art pieces inspired by the natural world, while a museum honors a former student who planted trees on campus to create an arboretum. The facility is designed with sustainability in mind, earning LEED Gold certification for energy efficiency and innovation. The rooftop includes a solar water heater, green roof, and modern greenhouse. The center is also home to MCW’s Green Bay campus, offering medical education programs. Dale and Ruth Michels Hall
Dale and Ruth Michels Hall is a three-story, coeducational service-learning residence hall located at 708 3rd Street in De Pere, Wisconsin, United States. Housing 118 students, Michels Hall offers fourteen suite-style rooms for groups of eight students. The building features a central lobby with a television, kitchen, couches, and study tables, as well as a reflection lounge. Laundry and vending machines are available on the first floor, with study rooms on each floor. Residents are required to have a residential meal plan based on their housing year classification. Each room is furnished with wireless internet access. The Michels Hall Service Program is a living-learning opportunity for second-year students, in collaboration with the Sturzl Center for Community Service and Learning. Students complete 30 hours of service with a community organization in Brown County, such as the Boys and Girls Club of Green Bay or the Greater Green Bay YMCA. The program helps students connect their actions in the community to the common good. The staff includes resident assistants, community assistants, and an area coordinator.
