"Effective 1/11 24 they're not accepting Delta Dental insurance . Have Delta for over 25 years. It took two months to get a refund on a n over payment, plus exrays were not sent to new dentist before appointment. Someone had to call your office the release form was done three weeks previously . Very disappointed in this. Don't go here!"
"Had an appointment for a dental cleaning at 3 o’clock. I’m there 15 minutes early. They call me at 2:55 to tell me that my appointment has been changed. I’m already there they can’t change my appointment but they did so I had to wait an hour and a half for another appointment. This is not the first time this has happened. It’s the second time this has happened, now my wife was supposed to go in to have her dental, her teeth cleaned and they canceled her insurance for no apparent reason the people that work here have no clue what they’re doing. There’s a reason why the turnover is so bad for the employees."
"Dr. Melcher is the best dentist I have ever had and I have always loved the entire staff but, alas, Delta Dental is no longer being accepted here as of January 1, 2024. Very sad as I have been a loyal patient here ever since I have had teeth (45 years)! I have looked at the numbers for my policy and it just does not make financial sense to stay unfortunately. I will not say whether or not it was the right or wrong decision for them to drop Delta Dental overall, just that it was a decision that affected me and my family adversely. For that, I will subtract no stars because they have to do what they feel is right for their clinic and the majority of their patients."
"Five stars for the great dentists and hygienists, negative four stars for the billing and insurance area. I was a patient at this clinic for more than 30 years, as was my husband, but we are done. The billing/insurance area is what I would like to warn about. If you have a situation in which you are paying any copay or cash plus insurance, CHECK THE NUMBERS. For years I had employer-paid dental insurance and as this covered just about everything, I had no problem. But now, on a Medicare Advantage plan with limited coverage, I had a situation in which I had to pay part of my bill out of pocket. This became a ludicrously major struggle with both the billing person, Mary, and the office manager, Lynn. They insisted that I prepay the full list price for the amount I owed over my insurance maximum and said I would be reimbursed once insurance ran through. In my case, insurance ultimately determined that I owed CDA $500—but I had prepaid $1,059. So, they owed me $559. I had paid on March 23, before my root canal and crown procedure. In late April, Mary called to tell me insurance had paid and to expect my check—for $528. When I told her it should be $559, she sent me a ledger that, she said, would explain this amount. It was a mess of typewritten and handwritten numbers that explained nothing except that $31 of my money had disappeared somewhere in there. A check for $528 arrived the next day. It took calling the dentist who owns/manages the practice and threats to file complaints with the state and my insurance company before Mary “found” her “error” and agreed I was indeed owed an additional $31. She would send a check. A week later, still having gotten no check, I called again and was told by Mary that they were doing a software update and couldn’t cut any checks until the next week. Another call to the practice owner, however, produced a check the same day. I had to fight so hard just to get reimbursed for something I shouldn’t have been charged in the first place. I had to give them a $559 loan, more than double what I actually owed, for more than six weeks. This also delayed my getting reimbursement from my own HRA for the $500 payment because the numbers didn’t add up and I couldn’t submit anything until they did. I understand that people make mistakes, but when they are pointed out, they should be corrected immediately. In this case, Mary dug her heels in and absolutely insisted she was right until I had to threaten further action, just to get my own money back. I doubt if I am the only one she is doing this to; my situation is not unique. So I would advise anyone using this clinic to check the numbers you are given; do not assume they are correct."
"I just fired the whole place and moved to South Milwaukee Family Dental about 2 blocks away. I called the supervisor Kevin about how they are assigning patients to dentists, and the bouncing back and forth between dentists. That's when everything blew up. I went to Cudahy Dental for about 30 years, then my dentist retired, and since it has all new people to me. According to Kevin, the Asian (relevant) dentist was saying she is uncomfortable around me because I was making offensive comments. He said she claims that I said that she brought the virus from China. Kevin was not having any of my claim that I said I no such thing. Rather he kept accusing me while denying he was accusing me. So, I fired the dentist for that and then I fired Cudahy Dental because of Kevin. Kevin never answered the question I called him about. We have too many people in this world who invent in their own head what they want to hear or believe. It is not to the positive benefit to the target but a negative accusatory charge. They twist and torture what was said so they can argue or be offended. I don’t play that game. Instead I have learned in 60 years to cut off relations with these people. It is not possible interact intelligently with people who invent stuff in their own head and then attribute it to me. I have learned that these people are incurable. I don’t want to play amateur psychologist to figure out what their hang ups are. Who knows what they will invent next? I just want reasonably satisfactory dental care. What really was said: During the filling (she always did good work by the way) I specifically asked the dentist what racial background she was because “I did not want to offend her.” (quote) She didn’t specify. I held up my mask and noticed the masks I was wearing had Chinese writing on them and said some people say the virus came from China, kind of interesting. Then she did the fillings. Kevin also said the assistant agreed that I said it. Apparently, the supervisor Kevin don’t think maybe the assistant don’t want to anger and get on the bad side of the dentist. Or factor in that we are in a politically charged everyone wearing masks pandemic thing. Even with that in view I do not give them a pass for claiming I said something that I did not. There is no way what I said could be heard as - that I accused her of bringing the virus from China. I am not going to tolerate my dental office twisting any little thing into an offence and thrusting me into some sort of hyper offensiveness or hyper defensiveness fabrication. Even though Dr. Caputo, Dr. Melcher and all the hygienists were great, they also won’t get my business. I will be getting my wife to go somewhere else also. I never had this in the last 40 some years with 30 some being at Cudahy Dental. Like I said these fabricators are incurable. They hear what they want to hear. I have moved to a different dental practice."
