Situated on 20 beautiful acres just outside of Madison, Wisconsin, Liberty Equestrian Center is a full-service training facility offering group riding lessons, private lessons, beginner clinics, training, leasing, and boarding. We teach both Western and English disciplines, focusing on developing a strong seat, balance, and coordination.

"I took their summer "junior trainer" program which is probably aimed at kids more than adults (there is a daytime and late afternoon version to suit different schedules), but I wanted to expand my knowledge with overall horsemanship. The program was 9 weeks: two days a week for three hours/day. It was tough but I got to understand a lot working under one of their excellent trainers, Sam. My job with another student was to get the horses from pasture that we were working on that day, get them groomed and saddled up, into the arena and warmed up for when the trainer arrived. We'd always have three horses (usually a huge variety of personalities) and she would switch up who we worked on. I spent a fair amount of time on an OTTB who I learned to love and another mare named Fancy, who was super sweet. This is a busy, active barn with lots of students, a wide variety of horses, and you won't get coddled. Get over it. You'll get honest feedback to make you a stronger rider. If you want to learn from some really solid horse people who are deeply dedicated to the business, check it out. Please note also this barn is GREAT for kids - but they have adult classes too. Their default is more on the western side although they offer English too - but learning western horse lingo and even just how to saddle up a horse with a western saddle was good for me to balance my traditional english hunt seat training. I learned a lot about myself and horse training there. PS lots of nice people there too. I was intimidated at first coming into a new barn but most were very open and friendly with me."
