    Community School-West Seattle

“My three children spent 4 magical years within the walls and playyards of CSWS. We have so much love for our dear teachers there, each one brought so much to our kids lives. I loved how much outdoor play they got in, rain or shine, and the work they did each day on the social emotional growth of all kiddos. As an educator I appreciated the developmentally appropriate curriculum that encouraged inquiry and exploration through PLAY and project based learning, with a Reggio flair. And COMMUNITY it is, I have made many good friends and connections myself throughout West Seattle for whom I have CSWS to thank.”

    The Bridge School

“We moved my 9 year old son to The Bridge School after he kept slipping through the cracks in public school. He never wanted to go to school and often complained of stomach aches. Now he wakes up early excited to learn! The teachers and parent volunteers make learning tangible through many hands on experiences. They also focus on community building both within the school and city at large. We have made fantastic friends and are so happy we found The Bridge School!”

    Washington International School

“WIS has been a wonderful experience for my younger daughter these past couple years. She has attended from 2.5 to 4.5 years old, and in that timeframe, she has learned so much in both Mandarin and English. Within a couple weeks of starting at the school, she was already singing Mandarin songs when she had not been speaking any Mandarin at home. Compared to other preschools I have experienced, what I have heard from other parents at different schools, WIS provides a lot more for your money. I have been very grateful that they provide lunch for the children, along with snacks. All I need to bring for her is a cup and water bottle and they provide the rest. There has been complaints about all the rules, but I didn't mind since they were easy for me to follow - and the routine did not take long to get used to. I also appreciated that having the indoor shoes allowed the floors to be much cleaner. The tuition chart can be confusing at first, but no other school allows you to pay a prorated tuition when you go on vacation (even with the additional fee for schedule changes, we have saved a lot of money this way), nor do other schools let you customize their school schedules to this level. This I have appreciated immensely, as my work schedule may change from month to month. WIS does have a good amount of academics: Chinese writing worksheets, math worksheets. This has been great for my daughter since she loves doing them. But this may not be for everyone. They do also have plenty of toys, a clean classroom, and outdoor playground so they have plenty of opportunities to play. My daughter loves her teachers, and they are very caring and attentive to her. They have even customized her learning based on her level. She has enjoyed the additional classes that are offered for an additional fee (music, Tumblebus, art). We have certainly had a great two years at this school!”

    Hamilton International Middle School

“I found this to be a great school, teachers (like Ms.Griffith or Ms.Mcdonald) are consistantantly awesome! The language and music programs are top class, and the curriculum I have found to be both fun and highly educational. Over all Hamilton is awesome. P.S. For anybody who was wondering all the 1 star reviews that talk about drugs etc. are bullshit.”

    Puget Sound Community School

“They genuinely teach the students to be "global ambassadors for good". On my first visit to observe the classes a volunteer described a sad and moving personal experience of racial discrimination that could've easily been averted if any of the observers had spoken up for the stranger. Listening to the story was hard and everyone, including myself, was silent, until one of the older girls said "this is so wrong", then others audiblely agreed. That's when I realized that like the observers, I might have been too nervous to speak up, but those children would have.”

“Great school building for families that are having their local Seattle Public School building renovated. The building is large, clean, and has been a wonderful location. Despite the school having a large parking lot compared to many other lots, it does fill up rather quickly and street parking can be difficult to find for family events. Despite being just off I-5 the school has a nice large green area's in front of the school which counters the dense urban location.”
