The park is home to abundant wildlife and offers foot, bicycle, and horse trails for visitors to enjoy. The park was established in 1996 when a large section of land was transferred to Pierce County from the Washington State Department of Natural Resources for the purpose of creating a public park. Since then, additional parcels of land have been acquired and added to the park, including 23 acres obtained through a Pierce County Conservation Futures grant.
