Along with her husband Steve Lospalluto, they grow specific varieties of basketry willow, which are harvested annually, dried, and sorted to create stunning and functional baskets. Katherine is one of the few individuals in the United States actively growing and crafting her own willow for basket making. Each basket crafted at Dunbar Gardens is handmade with care and attention to detail, ensuring they are built to last a lifetime while showcasing the natural beauty of the willow material. In 2011, Katherine's work was recognized when several of her baskets were acquired by the Renwick Gallery at the Smithsonian American Art Museum as part of the Cole-Ware Collection of American baskets. Her baskets can be found in homes across the country, adding a touch of handmade elegance to any space.
