Berthusen Park
Berthusen Park, located at 8837 Berthusen Road in Lynden, Washington, is a historic farmstead that dates back to 1883 when it was homesteaded by Hans Berthusen and his wife Lida Hawley-Berthusen. The park features their original barn and privy, both listed on the Register of Historic Places, which were built from trees grown on the farm. Following the deaths of Hans and Lida in the 1940s, their entire 236-acre farm was bequeathed to the city of Lynden for the enjoyment and preservation of the community. Today, Berthusen Park offers a range of amenities including picnic areas, group shelters, playground activities, hiking trails through old growth forest, and horseback riding opportunities.
