Barry V. Hasson: Allstate Insurance

"We were Allstate customers for almost 30 years - during Covid our premiums doubled and any kind of customer service was not only frowned upon - great offense was taken that we had the nerve to ask We had an accident 5 months ago - the only contact they initiated was 2 generic letters telling us they were still compiling information - our rep removed his name from the correspondence I get that covid delayed everything - but 5 months? I called at one point and was told there was nothing to be done - then they ceased any further contact - when I called again - I was expecting him to say "Gee, I don't know - let me call them to see if I can get any information " he just shrugged off our concerns - he'd tell us one thing and we'd find out later it was not true - he couldn't even be bothered to pick up a phone and call the body shop he recommended we use. Get everything in writing Everything I was going to just leave this be but corporate- in an attempt to smooth things over basically told us we were idiots to let it get to that point - we told Barry that we could not afford to pay for 2 cars - his only suggestion was to advise us to start removing coverage - during the time we were being ignored, we missed enough car payments to get the vehicle repossessed - we were killing ourselves to keep up - but decided that since the entire situation is "our fault " we stopped paying the premiums - the only response was concern over their missing payments. When we reported the accident he assured us that the premium would not increase - he neglected to tell us that it had already increased by 25% - we found out the next day Any expectation of customer service was not only dashed - they were offended that we even questioned them Apparently there is this complex graphic that determines rate increases which really just means they are only concerned with increased profits - I cannot recommend Allstate"
