Holiday Inn Express & Suites Williamsburg, an IHG Hotel

"So the beginning was promising, the hotel and rooms looked clean enough and the room with the 2 queen beds is a good size for 2 to 4 ppl max My mind was changed however when I woke up at 3 am because my back was hurting from the bed. I believe they are probably one of the cheapest beds out there (and they are more soft than hard for those of you wondering). I put some drinks on the refrigerator and before going to sleep and when I awoke I realized the fridge was turned all the way down so my drinks were still warm. We went searching for a vending machine and none could be located. The only place to get a small variety of drinks and food is by the front desk. I almost forgot, some of the snacks that are sold near check in were expired, so check your dates before purchase. However there are ice machines on every floor, I know this because we went to every floor first looking for a vending machine. I don't know how well you'll sleep seeing as how I woke up with almost everything hurting. The only upside is the rooms look fairly nice but investing in some new beds would be a good idea in my opinion. Also when we made a visit to the front desk to ask about vending machines, the lady took a good 60 plus seconds to acknowledge my greeting. I will give her it was 3 am but she had just finished a conversation with someone in the back room she came from.... also, the phones in the room to call down to the desk or make outgoing calls dosen't work. I guess I could have looked up the hotel number and called that way but I don't think that should be needed, the bare essentials should just work. I did notice an indoor pool that stayed open late, I wish I knew so i could have tried it out. I probably wouldn't stay here again unless I had no other option. "Great GREAT location! Walking distance to activities & plenty of food options. Clean spacious room. Clean facilities. Great breakfast selections that were restocked quickly. Staff working the breakfast area were very accommodating. The young lady who checked me in was extremely nice & helpful. Pool is heated. Seemed to be plenty of parking. We were able to hang in the lobby and play our board game until it was time to head to the Amtrak station Would definitely stay here again!"

"Very disappointed with the pool. I'm a dad traveling with two little kids. The pool is a big deal. It was dirty around the pool. The railing was broken. There was a hole in the celing. No towels in the pool area but a sign to ask front desk and they tell you return it when you're done... so dry off and walk half naked to your room?!? The motor is loud for the filter. The chemicals are off balance. It was unacceptable. And for the rate, it should be better."

"This was a noisy hotel. The bathroom was filty and the housekeeping did not clean the room thoroughly. There was a huge amount of hair and dirt in the shower that clogged the drain. It was absolutely horrible. People were slamming doors all night. It sounded like they were doing construction on the building. The breakfast was all processed products. The biscuits were hard and the eggs were over cooked and hard. I will not stay at this hotel again."
