"My friend recently visited from Australia, and I was determined to show her the best of Winchester. Valerie Hill Vineyard did not disappoint! It was her favorite part of Winchester and one of the highlights of her entire trip around the U.S. From the moment we drove up we were taken aback by the beauty of the estate. Inside, the atmosphere was warm and inviting (even on the chilly day), and the beautiful surroundings added to the overall experience. Beyond the delicious food and wine, the service was exceptional. Our server was knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly, making us feel right at home. He took the time to answer our questions and guide us through the wine list, ensuring we had a truly memorable experience. Thank you so much for making my friends visit so special - I can’t wait to visit again!"
"Lovely winery in a nice historic building, so match made in heaven for us - wine and history! We came in February on a cold snowy day so we didn’t walk around the grounds much but the area looked lovely. There’s plenty of seating both inside and outside, so that’s really good. We lived in many wine-producing countries, including Chile, France, Romania, Greece and now are learning about wines of Virginia, so we visited several wineries in this area and we thought that this particular one is a tad less relaxed than some others we went to on this trip - with schedule for reserved tastings, like, every half hour and every hour… but the most disappointing for us was that there are no flight tastings on weekends! I mean… isn’t that when most folks come to wineries, on weekends? I could be wrong (hold your judgement, lol) but seems that in attempt to prioritize profit (reserved tastings certainly cost more than tasting flights), they kinda miss out on popularizing their wines among those customers who didn’t have a reservation but wanted to learn more about this winery’s wines… oh well, just an opinion, but hence one star off…We tried the Cameo Rose and it was good; we came back home with a bottle. We also thought that it was great that they offer some food options, more than just cheese&crackers - they have sandwiches, charcuterie boards, warm baguettes with olive oil… Shout out to the young lady working on food options - great food presentation skills! Anyway, if you’re in the area, good place to visit."
"Wonderful experience great local wine in white and red, live music and gorgeous scenery of the vineyard. Family with kids are welcome."
"Amazing atmosphere and staff and even better GM. As someone who has been to 100+ wineries and even more in Virginia ,he was the first people to truly breakdown and describe the intricacies of the North American and international wine making processes. Highly recommend if you are visiting the Shenandoah area."
"Beautiful scenery!!! Loved walking through the grape vines! Great countryside on the way to this Vinyard also. Wines are great! The staff is very very accommodating and works hard to meet the needs of customers. Really nice clientele. Personally, I could leave out the live music, I would rather hear the birds and the occasional cow (there is a neighboring farm with beautiful cattle!). The historic house has several interesting original rooms— great antiques downstairs— the 80s furnishings upstairs don’t work, but they are comfortable. There are designated areas that are 21 years of age and above. Please leave the babies and children at home! Can we have some adult time here??? Okay, this place is really large and there is plenty of room for everyone! We were able to find quiet corners in the house and outside for some privacy. Food was also good! Enjoy!"
