Holiday Inn Express & Suites Waynesboro-Route 340, an IHG Hotel

"Our stay here was for my graduation at Liberty University. This was the cheapest place during the commencement weekend and it was still $260 per night. There were several issues with our stay. The staff at check in was awesome; however, the next day when my elderly parents arrived, they were treated sub-rate. The hotel in general needs to be renovated, the pool was not heated (broken), the spa was not heated, there were several rooms "out of service", the refrigerator in the room was very loud, no tissues, stains on the carpet, holes in the parking lot and no hot breakfast the first day. The fitness center consisted of a measly treadmill and two ellipticals. Not a free weight or any weight in the room. The good thing was that it was reasonably priced against other hotels during this time, but still the value was not there. This was not one of the IHG highlights of our recent stays."

"After going through all of the website and the booking process a note came up that the pool and spa were under renovation. I called the hotel directly and was told that the hot tub is cold and the indoor pool is not heated! So then I had to go back online and cancel our reservation since those were two of the main reasons we booked this hotel."

"I have no doubt that this will be a wonderful place to stay very soon. However, it was not during my recent stay. As soon as I booked a room online through my IHG account a notice popped up stating the pool was closed because of repairs and there were renovations going on. I had searched every hotel in the area and had chosen this one specifically for the pool, and fitness center. Keep in mind IHG has a NO REFUND policy. So, I was stuck. There was construction going on even in the room beside mine, with a wheelbarrow in the hall, paint odors, and noise into the evening. There were no water fountains working, the nearest Ice Machine was on the 3rd floor. I was in the basement. Equipment in the fitness center was out of order. I always want a fitness center, but certainly one with all the equipment working. The one saving grace was the best breakfast offerings I have ever seen. The staff at this hotel were fabulous, and did offer to move me when I complained of construction noise. Why was this information on disruptions withheld until after booking and too late for customers to get their money back, especially IHG members? BTW the brand new shower leaked and the new furniture is very stiff."

"Newly renovated rooms, very clean, fresh, stylish, friendly staff, and comfortable beds. Pretty good breakfast and not too bad selection. We stayed in a room right next to a room being rennovated on the bottom floor and it was a little loud, to be expected, but the work stopped in the evening. Parking isn't great, there was parking sectioned off for construction, not even half the spots looked like they were used by the crew at 3pm. When the renovations are done, I'd say 5 stars easy."

"Rooms very renovated recently & they were very good. Huge suite with new furniture. I liked the quality of mattress & sofa bed futon. The location is excellent, you have restaurants & shopping places within mile. Breakfast was average quality. I found only white bread & they were not fresh. Staff & front desk were curteous. The hotel is going through renovation, so it looks like rooms are renovated, but bathrooms will be renovated in the future ( existing bathrooms were also very good). Swimming pool was going through renovation & closed. Overall I was very happy with my stay & I am sure, this experience will be better after renovation & improved breakfast quality."
