Relief Society Building
The Relief Society Building, located at 76 Main Street in Salt Lake City, Utah, is a historic institution that serves as the headquarters for three organizations within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Built in 1956, the building is home to the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society organizations, all led by women leaders. The construction of the building was made possible through the generous donations of Relief Society members, who held fundraisers to raise the necessary funds. The architecture of the Relief Society Building was inspired by the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C., with decorative wheat stalks adorning the exterior as a symbol of preparedness and plenty. The building is located on Temple Square, close to the Salt Lake Temple, fulfilling the vision of an early leader to have a Relief Society building in the shadow of the temple.
