The park was petitioned to become a Texas Historical Site in 1979 due to an old Indian Camp Site located within its grounds. Playground areas are equipped with state-of-the-art astroturf and surrounded by fences for increased safety. Restroom facilities are conveniently located throughout the park. The football and baseball fields are reserved for youth sporting teams but open to the public when not in use.
