Students enrolled at Lone Star College will learn essential skills such as pre-trip inspections, basic control maneuvers, backing techniques, and city street/highway driving. This program not only meets the standards set by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Entry-Level Driver Training Rule but also prepares students to test for their CDL "A" issued by the Texas Department of Public Safety. As a recognized Third Party Testing Center by the Texas Department of Public Safety, Lone Star College provides students with the opportunity to test and obtain their Commercial Driver's License upon successful completion of the program. The institution also offers valuable insights into various compensation models within the trucking industry, including per mile pay, hourly pay, pay per load, and percentage of the load.
