The Plaza Theatre
The Plaza Theatre, located at 125 West Mills Avenue in El Paso, Texas, is a National Historic Building of Significance that was built in 1930 and restored to its original atmospheric theater splendor in 2006. With its Spanish Colonial Revival architecture, intricately painted ceilings, mosaic-tiled floors, and antique furniture, The Plaza Theatre is one of the few remaining atmospheric theaters in the United States, giving viewers the illusion of being seated outdoors in a Spanish courtyard. The theater features the Mighty Wurlitzer Blaban III Organ, one of only six ever made, with 1,071 pipes that can simulate 15 different instruments. The Plaza Theatre offers the 2,050-seat Kendall Kidd Performance Hall, the 200-seat Philanthropy Theatre, and the Alcantar Sky Garden for private receptions and gatherings. With 975 secure, underground parking spaces within walking distance, the theater provides convenience for patrons. The venue is equipped with modern amenities such as a passenger elevator, seating for up to 21 wheelchairs, and an assistive-listening system.
