Originally reserved for a school that was never built, the park was officially acquired by the park department in 1983. The park features a playground, trails, and a backstop on 6.5 acres of land. Named after well-known businessman Marvin Leonard and his wife Mary, Leonard Park is a tribute to their contributions to the community. Marvin Leonard was the founder of Leonard Brothers, a successful retail business, and also built Colonial Country Club and Shady Oaks Country Club. Mary Leonard was a prominent club woman and community volunteer.
