Winter Wimbeley house
● ClosedWinter Wimberley House is a historic institution located at 14068 Ranch Road 12 in Wimberley, Texas, United States. Originally built as a trading post settlement near Cypress Creek in 1848, the institution has a rich history dating back to the 19th century. The house was initially known as "Winters' Mill" after William Carvin Winters built a gristmill on the site in 1856. Over the years, the mill expanded to process various goods such as lumber, shingles, flour, molasses, and cotton, becoming a key economic anchor for the community. The Winters-Wimberley House, the village's oldest documented stone house, has survived the test of time and now serves as the Wimberley Valley Museum. The house was home to several generations of millers, including Pleasant Wimberley, whose successful management of the mill lasted over 20 years. The house is built of thick ashlar limestone blocks and features a simple yet substantial design.
