Anson Mills, located at 303 North Oregon Street in El Paso, Texas, is a landmark institution with a rich history. Anson Mills, often referred to as "The Father of El Paso," was a self-taught engineer who played a significant role in shaping the town of El Paso. He was responsible for the original layout of El Paso, as well as the iconic Anson Mills building. Mills first arrived in Texas after leaving West Point in 1857 and quickly made a name for himself in the area. He was hired by the Military to survey various forts and encouraged his brothers to move to El Paso. Mills was also involved in various business ventures, including a silver mining company in the Big Bend area.
