This stadium has been a hub for Aldine ISD's football teams, bands, drill teams, and cheer squads since it opened in 1979. However, plans are now underway to replace Thorne Stadium with a new state-of-the-art facility that is set to open in August 2024. In the meantime, Aldine ISD teams will be playing their home games at George Stadium in Spring ISD for the next two years.
