Atlanta-Miller Grade School
β OpenLocated at 106 1/2 West Miller Street in Atlanta, Texas, the Atlanta-Miller Grade School is a historic institution that has been restored by the Atlanta Grade School Friends. Dating back to 1936, this school building was originally constructed by the Hardy Brothers of Texarkana as part of the Works Progress Administration (WPA) era. Over the years, the school provided a safe and welcoming environment for students and teachers until it fell into disrepair in the 1990s. Thanks to the efforts of former students and supporters, the Atlanta-Miller Grade School has been saved from destruction. The nonprofit organization, Atlanta Grade School Friends, was established in 2003 to oversee the restoration and maintenance of the building. With the help of volunteers and financial contributions, the school has been stabilized and is now undergoing a complete renovation.
