Originally known as Denton County Independent Hamburger Company, the restaurant was purchased by Radical Hospitality in 2012. After closing the downtown location and rebranding it as Lone Star Attitude Burger Company, the original owner, Kim Kitchens, continued to operate the Sunset Street location. In 2018, Mike Barnett purchased the Sunset operation and relocated it to the current University Drive location. Despite plans for a new DCIHC location in Argyle, Denton Independent Hamburger and the future Argyle store will operate independently with separate ownership.
