"My husband is a gold member & we received an email that our suite will be upgraded to a sea facing room but the receptionist Becky gave us a room with no view. She is the most non courteous receptionist that I have seen till date. When we told her that we would like to have a word with the manager, she refused to call the manager. Though it was around Christmas that we visited, there were no goodies like the freshly baked cookies that Hilton offers as complimentary to its guests or free water bottles. I had very good experience at various other Hilton hotels, I would definitely not recommend this hotel."

"Overall, a great 4 night stay. Great service overall. No significant complaints and I can be a picky Diamond member. Nice to have a Starbucks and Across the Border Bar and Restaurant. Nice pool area, but big pool not heated. Great hot tub, but small. (Need another). Clean lobby. Clean hotel in general. Very pleasant staff. Helpful people on the Hilton team. Great beach to collect small shells. Pretty beach. Patio facing the ocean is wonderful to have. We would return again."

"I wish I could give a 5 star review. Everything was great with the exception of one thing. The room was spacious and clean. The front desk personnel are friendly and helpful. We stayed for a week and the room was cleaned every day which is a plus. The exception is the pool. It was ice cold! It’s a beautiful pool and a beautiful pool area with a resort feel. Why is it not heated? The hot tub was hot. It was actually too hot for my liking. It is a shame the pool is useless this time of year. I’d like to know if this is always the case. Other hotel pools in the area are heated. Perhaps our next SPI stay will have to be elsewhere."

"I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn South Padre Island from December 7-December 15 because I was working on the Island. When I asked front desk to please not place me near the elevators because of noise, when I arrived upstairs my room was 2 doors down from the elevators. I went downstairs and asked to be moved. I had to change rooms because I did not like being near the elevators and the smell in room #210 was not nice. The view was of the roof top with rusted air-conditioning units. They moved me to room # 324 immediately. When I moved to this new room, the refrigerator cabinet door was broken and the telephone did not work. The hallways are very loud after 9pm and early in the morning before 8am, additionally my next door neighbor in room 326 was loud talking and loud snoring which kept me up all night. Their TV was extremely loud where I could hear the characters on the TV talking clearly. The next day the neighbors checked out thank God, but then the repairs started in that same room and the room across the hall from me. I complained to the front desk that the repairman/maintenance crew worked in the room next door #326 until after 9pm at night. It's 9:30pm while I'm writing this review now and the repairmen are still working next door. Even after calling downstairs on my cell phone to complain (our room phone does not work), I still could hear the guys working next door. The time is 10:38pm. This is very disappointing and frustrating. We can smell paint. We even could smell something akin to gasoline earlier. I am terribly disappointed in Hilton. This is not like any Hilton I have ever stayed at before. This has been the worst Hilton experience ever! Now it 8am and the drilling has started again!!!!! You have got to be kidding me!!!!!! This has been like a nightmare experience!!!!"

"Pros: Newish hotel. Large rooms. Everything is very clean and in good shape. $3-$5 Happy Hour margaritas and draft beer, very tasty. Closest hotel to Redline Helicopter tours. Cons: Beds are rock hard. No lights in the room! Our room had just two tiny reading lamps by the beds and a single low wattage table lamp. Room is VERY DARK at night as a result! Not enough furniture for such a big room! More nightstands and a sofa would make sense. My guess is that this hotel is so new, that coming off the pandemic, Hilton didn't give it the budget for more lights and better beds and furniture. Finally, we had a bit of a tiff with the desk clerk, who called to say that although this is a pet-friendly hotel, pet birds were not included as we had brought our pet parrot. We explained that we had specifically asked during the reservation process, made through the Hilton Honors program, and were assured that pet parrots were allowed. So we got a special dispensation to stay."
