The Ensemble Theatre

Founded in 1976 by George Hawkins, the theatre has grown from a small touring company to one of Houston's premier historical cultural institutions. The Ensemble is committed to producing works that portray the African American experience, making it one of the only professional theatres in the region with this focus. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the theatre is open at full capacity, but masks are strongly suggested while inside the facility. Visitors are encouraged to wash and sanitize their hands frequently and maintain social distancing. The Box Office is open Monday through Friday from 1-5pm, and on weekends during productions. Emails and voicemails are checked daily, with responses typically within 48-72 hours during peak communication periods.
