"The girl at the front desk that sits to the right is incredibly rude every time we go in or call. They don’t do same day appointments for urgent matters. The portal never works. They give conflicting information. I’ve only seen the pediatrician once in the 9 months that my daughter has been going there. they always stick us with the PA (which is fine for routine visits but if somethings wrong I’d like to see the doctor and they’re never available). The office is outdated and run down. Not somewhere you want to bring your children."

"I called the office and scheduled a new patient well-visit for each of my 2 daughters MANY months ago. Since scheduling, one of my daughters was sick and had to be seen ahead of her scheduled well visit. At the time of this visit, I was asked to sign all new patient paperwork pertaining to her. My younger daughter still had not been seen, as her appt was not scheduled until a couple of months later. Today in the mail I received a $50.00 bill for a “missed appointment”. Confused, I called the office, and was told we had failed to show up for my younger daughter’s well visit. I never received a reminder regarding this appointment and never signed paperwork for her, as she had not been established and I made her appointment over the phone. They claimed I “am aware of their policies” because my other daughter had been seen by the dr. ONCE before. I apologized, explained we don’t have a history of missed appointments, and being a brand new patient (never seen by dr) would they please waive the fee and we can reschedule. They refused to offer any grace, other than to reduce my payment to $40.00 because it had been so long ago that the original appointment was scheduled, they actually have raised their fees since then. I was made to pay $40 instead of $50. That set the tone for me with this office, and was good enough reason not to go back. They lost two patients over $40.00."

"I really wanted this place to be our new pediatrician’s office, as my son’s 12 month well-visit with Shannon Bartell was awesome. He was a new patient, and she took time to learn his history, which I appreciated. Fast forward to his 15 month appointmeWe had an appointment for 8:40 that I arrived at 8:35 for. I was not called back into the office until around 9:05. Once back there, my son was weighed and we waited for the doctor. At this point, it is 9:45 and I still hadn’t been seen. I poked my head out of the room to ask how much longer it would be and was told that they couldn’t give me an answer. The office staff shrugged off my concerns and told me that I shouldn’t expect to be seen at the time of my appointment. It seemed to be standard practice for appointments to take that long. I ended up leaving because I did not anticipate the appointment taking that long. Fearing this would happen every time one of my kids has an appointment, we switched pediatricians and will no longer be coming here."

"By far the best place to take your kids. l've been going there since my son was born and they are simply the best. Very personable and don't treat you like a number. The front office staff are so nice and helpful. Dr Gideon is an incredible doctor. Always has such a positive attitude is so gentle with my son. Thank you Helotes pediatrics!"

"We’ve been bringing our daughter to Helotes Pediatrics since she left toddlerville. She is 12 now. The staff and doctors are always friendly, courteous, and really try to squeeze you in when you are in a pinch. Yesterday was one such time. I hope and pray that any insurance carrier we use is taken there. They are wonderful! I highly recommend these folks!"
