"My cousin was transferred to your hospital emergently on Wednesday night 1/31/24 from a sister hospital in Elizabethton. She was taken to the heart cath lab and from there to the ICU. On 2/1/24 she was transferred from ICU to room 2306. She had exceptional care with everybody she came in contact with. Hats off to all the staff on that floor for their professionalism and great care. A big shout out to Roy who was her nurse on 2/3/24 when she was discharged home. He was prompt in getting all everything set up for her and did this in a timely manner. Thank you again for all the care you provided her during this very scary time for both her and her family."
"Yet another horrible experience at another Ballad facility.. this was a more distant relative because I personally have vowed that not even in a life or death situation would I stop at a facility for myself or my family, that has a Ballad Health sign out front. The extra hour drive may kill me but I would wait 12x's that long in a filthy ER anyway so I'll risk it. But my heart is aching for this person's situation and I hope this "hospital" gets taken down or reformed soon. It can't come soon enough for our region! Ballad tries to tell us we won't have health care at all if they aren't here but wake up people!! We don't have health care now... We have dirty, overcrowded buildings full of people who hate their jobs and that operate like a business more than a caring hospital. Speak up! Stand up! Vote! Let lawmakers know that Ballad needs to be regulated and held to higher standards because we matter!"
"We had a horrible experience in the ICU before and when my husband passed. This is the worst thing a family can go through watching their loved one passing away. My husband was brought by ambulance from Franklin Woods. I was told JC was better equipped to take care of my husband. The day before he passed, I was told to have our children come from out of town. They drove 8 hours to get there a little before visiting hours ended. We were told all 3 of us could go in at once. Once they got there, only 2 were allowed in. Once the doctor wanted to talk to us, they let all of us go in. People do get hysterical and upset. This is a loved one. The nurses were talking in the room about my husband. He probably could hear even if unconscious. My daughter asked them to go out the room to discuss things. Yes she asked the doctor if he knew what he was doing. You need thicker skin working in this field during such a horrible time. In the hall, Maddie, the day nurse, told me she couldn't have my daughter treat her nurses like that. My daughter never yelled, screamed or threatened so I'm not sure what Maddie meant. Maddie showed no compassion whatsoever to us. When we got a call at 1:30 am to come back, I was told my daughter wasn't allowed in as her dad passed. If she came, I couldn't go in. I'm sure this was Maddie's doing. That is absolutely not acceptable and so inhumane to tear a family apart as their husband and father is passing away. This was extra horrible since he was never sick and 5 days after going to Urgent Care, he was gone and it was 3 weeks before our 47th anniversary and our daughter's 42nd birthday. Maddie was very cold toward us and never once offered any sympathy or understanding. I just hope the doctors and nurses did all they could to save my husband. They never found a reason as to what caused his sepsis.I will never know for sure. I have talked to many people, including people in the medical field and they can't believe we were treated like this. They all said JC doesn't have a good reputation at all. You deserve ZERO rating."
"I only give this 2 stars because the nurses, techs, and one Dr I did speak to were nice. However their systems are awful. I got to the ER at almost 11 am and didn't see a doctor until 7pm. I got a sonogram at 230 and told my results were put in for stat and when I asked when I would speak to a dr they Said because of the stat nature should be about an hour or so. It took almost 4 hours. Meanwhile I'm getting worse and when my husband tried to advocate for me the woman in registration said I wasn't that bad and had to wait. And we didn't bombard them or anything we asked only twice before that over that 4 hour span of waiting on results."
"Arrived in the ER with my son at 9:30 PM, him having breathing issues and headache. They gave him some medication and still 12:30 pm and no doctor has seen him so far. Very poor service, ER was empty. Very hard to understand why this lack of attention to people in need. The justification was no room, why you admit people in your facility if there is no room available?? Sorry but I do get it. Employee recommendation was to go to other Hospital because this in the only trauma hospital in the region. Seriously, they know how to charge you but not how to have a good service."
