Old Masonic Home
β OpenThe Old Masonic Home, located at 710 Hart Lane in Nashville, Tennessee, is a historic building with a rich history. Originally known as the Masonic Widows' and Orphans' Home, it was established to provide a residence for older Freemasons and families in need. Designed in the Colonial Revival style by architects Asmus and Norton, the building was completed in 1915. Co-founded by William H. Bumpas and Marcus B. Toney, the institution served as a home for aged Masons for many years. In 1941, the building was repurposed as the Middle Tennessee Tuberculosis Hospital by the state of Tennessee. It later housed offices for the Tennessee Department of Health before sitting unoccupied from 1999 to 2009. Despite facing the threat of demolition in order to save money, efforts are now being made to preserve this historic landmark.
