β OpenCharleston Area Therapeutic Riding (CATR) is a non-profit organization located at 2669 Hamilton Road in Johns Island, South Carolina, United States. Founded in 1991 by Meta Carter and Eileen McGuffie, CATR is dedicated to providing quality Equine Assisted Services to the community. CATR has been recognized as a "Premier Accredited Center" by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.) since 1992. Starting with just three students, CATR has grown over the years and now serves over 160 children and adults with disabilities annually. The institution employs seven PATH International certified instructors and relies on the support of 150 volunteers. With a focus on therapeutic horsemanship, CATR aims to empower individuals with disabilities to lead more active and fulfilling lives.
