Broyles Recreation Area
Broyles Recreation Area is a beautiful park and tourist attraction located on Smyzer Road in Townville, South Carolina, United States. Covering 24 acres of gentle to moderate slopes and pine vegetation, this area offers a variety of amenities for visitors to enjoy. These include a volunteer host campsite, picnic sites, a picnic shelter with water and electric service, a boat ramp, a courtesy dock, a playground, a designated swim area/beach, a fishing pier, and more. The park is a popular spot for fishing tournaments during the Spring and Summer months. Situated on the shores of Hartwell Lake, a man-made lake bordering Georgia and South Carolina, Broyles Recreation Area is part of the Hartwell Project operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers. The area offers 8 campgrounds, 11 day-use facilities, and plenty of opportunities for boating, water sports, swimming, and picnicking. The surrounding vegetation provides ample shade, and the 962 miles of shoreline offer numerous beaches and boat ramps for visitors to enjoy.
Hawe Creek
Hawe Creek Campground, located on J. Strom Thurmond Lake in McCormick, South Carolina, offers a picturesque setting for outdoor enthusiasts. With 34 waterfront sites, this campground provides a perfect base for boating, water skiing, swimming, fishing, hiking, and picnicking. The heavily wooded area provides shade in the summer and vibrant fall colors. Wildlife abounds around the lake, including bald eagles, waterfowl, turkeys, and deer. Visitors to Hawe Creek can enjoy amenities such as electrical hookups, toilets, showers, drinking water, a dump station, and a boat ramp.
