"Blackwell’s has lost a 10+ year customer in my husband and me. As we’d done the last two years, we dropped off all our documents in mid-February. After a month of not hearing anything, we checked in, only to find out that not only had our taxes not been done, but Blackwell’s was instead taking walk-ins ahead of us. The very rude receptionist emailed to say they might not be able to get to ours at all, which could have “tragic consequences.” No kidding! I understand Covid has led to workforce issues, but I was amazed at the poor customer service of not taking people in order AND not calling a long-time customer to say they might not get ours done. Add that onto them mailing our returns to the wrong people last year – social security numbers and all – and we’re done. Staffing issues are no excuse for dismal, rude customer service. We picked up our documents from Blackwell’s, took them to an independent accountant on a Thursday at 4 pm who charged almost half what Blackwell’s was charging us, and had them back by 10 am the next morning."

"I have been going to Blackwell's for close on to 22 years now. They have never once in all that time ever left me down.. until this year. I understand that it's hard to find staff and I do understand the problems of a small business. That said, I was told that if I was at the office by 8:00 am I could be "fit in". I was willing to wait (and I did for almost 2 hours). At the end of that time, I was told that it would be at least another 2 hours - maybe - otherwise I could just come back another day and try again and - maybe - they could fit me in. I got out of bed at 5:00 am to drive the 45 minutes through Charlotte traffic to be there at 8:00 am! I waited almost two hours because I LOVED THIS COMPANY!! Will they do your taxes well and for a reasonable price = yes. I have recommended them to at least 5 people per year for almost the entire time I've been using them. Today I had to walk away empty handed from a business that doesn't care about the years and years of goodwill and trust they had earned. I'll figure out this years taxes somehow but I'm out almost 5 hours of wasted time and so disappointed that I had to write this goodbye letter. I feel lost.. like I just lost a friend and someone I depended upon. It was a good 22 years.. I'll miss ya'll."
