Marion Old Town Hall and Opera House
The Marion Old Town Hall and Opera House, located at 109 East Godbold Street in Marion, South Carolina, is a historic two-story brick building with a classic-revival design. Built in 1892, the first floor originally housed the town courtroom, jail, and fire department, while the second floor was used for various events such as graduation exercises and theatrical productions. The building features radial design louvers on each of the four gables and wooden false dormers on the roof. Over the years, the building transitioned from a public town building to privately owned businesses until 1983, when it was restored to its former glory thanks to the efforts of dedicated citizens. Today, the Marion Old Town Hall and Opera House serves as a community gathering place for cultural events, with a 300-seat auditorium utilized by various organizations. The interior still retains much of its original wainscoting and woodwork.
