"They don't care about your pet, only your money My cat couldn't pee. He seemed to be in pain, so I took him in on a Saturday. Turns out he had an obstructed urethra, a life threatening condition. Two days and $3500 later, I picked him up. They said I needed to watch him carefully for the next 48 hours to make sure he is peeing. So I watched. And he's not going normally, but in tiny squirts. Is this enough? Does he have another obstruction? Since I don't have another $3500, if he's obstructed again my only choice will be to put him down. So I called and asked to speak with a vet to answer my question: Are these little squirts enough? I called at noon and was given a vet tech. I asked to speak with a vet. This is a life threatening condition. I don't trust that the vet tech has the experience to give me good advice. So I was told a vet would call me. After 5 hours, no call. So I called again...a vet will call you. But they haven't. So I called again. In 10 hours time, I have not gotten a call from a vet. The receptionist told me to bring him in, that I didn't need a call from a vet. Really? I DON'T HAVE ANOTHER $3500!!! Shouldn't the vet care enough about my pet to take 5 minutes to return a phone call? I will Never take a pet there again. I was told that Carolina Critical Care is cheaper and more responsive. That's where I'll try if there's a next time."

"One of my cats was referred to Dr. Kopp, a neurologist at New River Veterinary Specialists. The doctor and her team took care to review my cat’s records the night before her appointment, asked thorough questions about her lifestyle and symptoms, and did a thorough job explaining next steps in her treatment plan with me following a physical evaluation of her. I am feeling hopeful about getting my kitty back to feeling and acting like herself! Thank you Dr. Kopp and team for your help in delivering great care for my fur baby!"

"Top notch and first class. Had an emergency with my 14 yr old pup and had to put her down on a weekend (when my vet, who apparently doesn’t think dogs get sick on weekends, was closed and did not return calls). From the initial phone call to walking out the door, the entire staff was empathetic, sincere and transparent. They prepped us for every step of the way. Very thankful that they were there for us."

"I brought my 4 month old puppy here after she was bitten by one of my other dogs. They took her right in to diagnose her injuries and I was talking to the vet within 20 minutes to go over her treatments. Fortunately I keep money aside for emergencies like this knowing something can happen to one of my animals, and I don't have to think twice about the cost of the treatment. Their service and staff were very friendly and I know my puppy is in good hands. Thank you everyone at New River for taking care of my Savannah and doing everything you can. Finger crossed for a pawsitive outcome. Christina UPDATE: It has been a long 3 days, but Savannah is finally home and on the path to healing. The level of care and attention she received was beyond any expectations. Yes this kind of care does come at a cost, but I don't feel that anything was billed to me or done for treatment and care that was unnecessary, or at an outrageous price. Every treatment done was with a purpose and reason to get her back on a path to living a long and happy life, and that is exactly what they did for us. We are forever grateful for what you all do everyday over there and we will always remember what you did for us. Christina and Savannah"

"Posting while it’s fresh in my mind. On October 3rd, some time after midnight, my best companion of 14 years Gizmo had a seizure and unfortunately it was his time to cross over rainbow bridge. I don’t recall the staff’s names but they were all so very kind. This was one of the most difficult things that I’ve had to do. I appreciate their kindness and gentleness with Gizmo! Thank you all"
