"My teen son started training here a few months ago. He learned much fast and now has a lot of confidence. He describes the atmosphere as inclusive with a chill vibe that makes him comfortable. Other schools we tried did not have the welcoming feeling and just let bigger people beat up on him. Now he can take his own Dad out in a microsecond. Thank God they teach mercy too! I may have to start taking classes to remind him I am still the boss lol. Anyway, great school if you are looking to take classes for yourself or your child. Oh and Rickson Gracie himself even came in a few times to so special classes at no extra charge!!! My son was star struck and was talking about it for days!"
"This was where I started my BJJ journey in spring of 2016. My first class and first impression of the BJJ was here. Great, awesome, and nice people who were dedicated to the art. Michael Key was my first instructor ever in BJJ. He definitely made an impression. He's very humble and caring. When I first started I had no idea what's going on. He lent me one of his Gis to train in for some time while he helped order my first Gi. He also told me that I can pay whatever I can if I have any financial problems. I can tell he treats his students like family. Inopportunely, I had to relocate somewhere else because of my job in late 2016. Although I am not in town and don't train with Gracie Charleston anymore, this will always be the source of my BJJ journey."
"I'm a blue belt from Raleigh, NC and have trained 3 years. During my week long vacation in Kiawah, my wife let me escape twice to drop in to Gracie Charleston. The owner, coaches, and students were very welcoming, and I felt right at home during my time on their mats.I had great coaching from Greg Elliot and Michael Key, and the rolls with the members were challenging and fun. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in town."
