Comfort Inn Downtown Charleston

"BEWARE. BED BUGS. I picked this location because it seemed like a decently reviewed hotel at a fair price. There wasn't anything special about it but it seemed nice enough. That is...until a few days after our stay, when my friend and I both started seeing itchy bumps pop up all over our arms and legs in clusters. I have never EVER experienced bed bugs before but I researched the signs and immediately knew this was the culprit. I reached out to the hotel to let them know and they forwarded me to the General Manager. I went to voicemail and left a message asking to call me back. I didn't receive a call, so I called back the next day and was told the manager was out but that they would take my name and number. I didn't receive a call but hours later got an email with two sentences. TWO. "Please open the attachment to view the folio. I refunded one night plus taxes." No apology. No call back to thank me for letting them know and that they are taking this concern seriously. Thanks for the ONE night refund, but I slept in that bed for THREE NIGHTS in those filthy conditions and the manager thinks zero call, zero accountability and one night free is the answer?? Search bed bugs in the reviews for this hotel. I didn't before I booked and I regret it. I am not the first and clearly they are doing nothing! BEWARE!"

"This was a bad hotel. Dirty. NO hot water. Broken Toilet, Broken Phone, Broken Nightstand. Be happy I do not post the pictures. The walls were paper thin. This is a roach motel. Comfort should end their affiliation with this location. It's just nasty."

"I stay at Choice hotels routinely. Some are really good, and others are pathetic. I’ve stayed here numerous times in the past — but this time might be my last! No towels! What?? Yup, no towels. I was here for three night and the best the front desk could do was write my name on a list for a possible towel in the morning — which did not happen. I won’t bother describing their chaotic valet parking scheme. The rooms are ok. The staff is very nice and friendly. There is a substantial homeless encampment at the edge of their parking lot under the bridge."

"The staff was great - 5 stars for them. Breakfast selection and food good, full selection pre-Covid spread. The beds, pillows, very comfortable and the room was clean. Cookies & coffee in lobby in afternoon. Location good. We walked to downtown, restaurants, most destinations 1-2 miles. But this Comfort Inn needs some attention. There are many "little things" that add up -- no towel rack in bathroom, towels are thin, no vending machines, antibacterial soap near elevator always empty -- it just makes the hotel feel slightly run down."

"We had reservations and the stay was good. The service was really good. No issues. The valet parking is helpful when you have someone fresh out of the hospital. Which is also really super close to the hotel. Back again today for another weeks stay as my significant other has a major surgery."
