"Maria was hired by my attorney in an step parent adoption case. We never spoke to Maria, never received 1 email from Maria & never 1 letter from Maria. I paid my full retainer to her staff & it was MONTHS before I could even schedule the GAL appointment with her. After many unanswered emails, phone calls not being returned we did finally schedule the zoom meeting. We waited 15 minutes & she never showed up!! I was furious that this woman was to represent MY daughter but couldn’t even show up for her zoom meeting! When I called the office they tried to push it back an additional month. She never called, sent a letter or wrote an email to apologize to my daughter for missing school & waiting on her. Maria Averill was absolutely awful from start to finish & her staff is equally as awful. Her reviews definitely perceive her. After that I refused to work with her. How could I hire a woman on behalf of MY daughter when she couldn’t even show up to a zoom meeting. Maria was paid to do nothing & didn’t even issue a full refund knowing she charged us for services she didn’t even render. I did indeed switch out the GAL to the most amazing, compassionate, kind & helpful woman & staff!! If you have the option to hire a different Attorney I urge you to do so. Please."
