Blue Wall Preserve
β ClosedBlue Wall Preserve, located at Pennell Road in Landrum, South Carolina, is a 575-acre park that is part of a larger protected area covering approximately 20,000 acres within the Blue Ridge Escarpment of the Southern Appalachians. Acquired by The Nature Conservancy in 1997, the preserve offers a variety of natural plant communities, including hardwood uplands, pine forests, shrublands, and open-water lakes. Visitors can enjoy scenic views of the Southern Blue Ridge Escarpment, with a majestic waterfall along the trails. Designated as an Important Bird Area by the Audubon Society, the Blue Wall Preserve is home to a diverse range of bird species, with 114 different species observed on the preserve. The Cherokee referred to the Blue Ridge Mountains as the "Blue Wall," and standing at the preserve provides stunning views of the surrounding peaks.
