Holiday Inn Charleston-Riverview, an IHG Hotel

"The location of the hotel has a good view, however when you pull into the parking lot it’s a rough entry to fight traffic. The rooms are old and nothing fancy. When taking a shower the tub backs up due to bad plumbing. Could be a great hotel if they completely remodeled it. The staff is extremely nice and everyone has been great but the hotel itself sucks."

"Nice bar top floor and ends there. Stayed here more than I should have, but won't again. Had a room booked, death in the family, no help with it n charged me like I was there, 172.32 n even corporate asked them to help me. Front desk staff borrows cigarettes, so, they don't pay their help either. Try to walk anywhere, which is like a Russian roulette with the traffic."

"The roof top bar and restaurant are wonderful. The food and service were great. We had a very enjoyable evening up there. It was nice to get off the elevator and our room was right there. The bed was comfy. The room was ok but the roof top bar was the highlight"

"The rooms were absolutely run down. Paint chipping, trim missing, there was streaks of something on our walls, ceiling was cracking it was just a mess! Our tub was broken and the soap shelf was so high me being 5'1" hit my head on it multiple times while showering. There was blood on one of the towels my brother was about to use. The restaurant food was horrible so save your money from there. The staff was super nice and the beds were clean and comfortable and the view was decent and it was a place to sleep after driving 12 hours. But this hotel absolutely needs updated! Not worth the $200 a night."

"Avoid! I am done with Holiday Inns now. My husband booked two nights in October that cost $850 for two double beds. Upon arriving in the room, one-bed was messed up and there was pee in the toilet. We didn't try to fight with the front desk about our room because we didn't want to ruin our special weekend. Additionally, you can tell by looking at the hotel there aren't any better rooms in which to upgrade. Their website says the hotel has been recently renovated. It was built in 1971 and looks like it. Their upgrades are a bright blue painted wall that has paint slopped all over the floor, a balcony that is fastened closed with dirty windows, contact paper covering the desk, and a dirty linoleum floor. The painted bathtub does not drain very well. The toilet is so low to the floor that you're practically sitting on the floor. Dirty surfaces and carpet are everywhere you look. The hallways still have dropped ceilings from the 70s and part of the original carpet is lining the wall with newish carpet on the floor. This seems more like a $65 night hotel to me. I am broken-hearted that we wasted almost $850 on two nights here. Carefully consider before you make the same mistake we did!!! There is absolutely no way they should be charging this much money for two nights for a hotel of this standard. No More Holiday Inns, ever! Ever! Ever!"
